![]() ![]() Reincarnation is an intriguing subject, especially because it is amazing to be born over and over again in different bodies and live a different life. All though I don’t believe in a lot of the things that are said in those religions like animals becoming reincarnated into humans, heaven and hell. In terms of reincarnation, all major Asian religions like Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism talk about reincarnation. This is the idea of searching for the truth, which is an idea that makes more sense than ideas shared commonly by Atheists and humanists like Stephen Cave for example who come to a conclusion without searching anything. So there is the idea in not just Christianity but many religions of seeking honor and immortality. ![]() “To those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life ” – Roman 2:7. I would like to begin by talking about the bible and what it has to say about immortality. Eugenics, Transhumanism, Post human and eventually Post humanism all seek to transcend the human into a utopian super being, who will then no longer be a ‘human’! Why is it that was trying so hard, to increase longevity, where does the idea of immortality come from, and why are we so obsessed about though of life after death? We will discuss all these things through the vision of religion and mythologies. I would like to begin by a reference I made to the Quran in my presentation, throughout history, humans have desired to live forever, eternally youthful and prosperous! Even in our times, with advances in genetic engineering, scientists are seeking ways to tinker with the genetic code in the hope of defying death, aging, diseases, etc. I would like to go more into religion, mythology, and religious epics to make reference to subjects on immortality. If we take a look at Stephen Cave’s book, we can see that immortality might mean physically living on forever, reincarnation, eternal soul, legacy, genetics, and wisdom. What we forget to realize is that immortality might define many things. Immortality is a topic that’s highly controversial, as it’s a subject that can’t be proven or even be disproven.
